Fairmont Hotels teams up with Preston College in Savoy work placement scheme
Luxury hotel group Fairmont Hotels and Resorts has teamed up with Preston College to offer trainee chefs the chance to complete work placements at the Savoy hotel in London.
The company, which runs luxury hotels across the world, including St Andrews in Scotland, has signed an agreement to offer young chefs from the college the opportunity to gain hands-on experience at the iconic London property, which last year reopened following a £200m refurbishment.
Marc McCrone, curriculum manager for catering and hospitality at Preston College, said: "Real world experience is key to success in this industry.
"This agreement to send students to the Savoy, with a view to extending the arrangement to Fairmont's various high class hotels and restaurants, builds on the opportunities afforded to our students to get big name experience on their CV and really boost their chances of getting a job in the industry."
