EasyHotel to enter India

Budget hotel chain EasyHotel has announced plans to extend its offer in Asia with the opening of six new properties in India.

The company said the openings form part of a larger expansion with plans to invest $400m (£202m) over the next five years to build 38 EasyHotel properties in 17 countries.

The deal follows the signing last year of a master franchise agreement between EasyGroup and Istithmar Hotels, a subsidiary of the Dubai investment company Istithmar.

EasyGroup's expansion plans also include 20 hotels in Dubai with the first property being a 195-room property in Karama, Dubai schedule to open in early 2008.

Further hotels in Dubai will be in the Jebel Ali free Zone, International City, Jumeirah Village South and the Al Garhoud district.
