EasyHotel defies cynics as occupancy rockets

London's first easyHotel has defied predictions of failure with occupancy rocketing in its first two months of trading.

The hotel, which offers rooms from as little as £20, has been almost totally booked out since opening this August, achieving an occupancy rate of 97.5%.

EasyHotel London is a 34-bedroom hotel in Lexham Gardens, between South Kensington and Earl's Court. Only three of its bedrooms have windows and they come in three sizes; 80, 70 and 60sq ft, decorated in the EasyGroup's distinctive orange.

Each room has a double mattress and quilt, en suite bathroom with towels, air conditioning and pay-as-you-go television, costing £5 for 24 hours.

There are no bars or restaurants in the hotel.

In accordance with other easyGroup products, room prices rise with demand.

EasyGroup's second hotel in Basel, Switzerland, which opened in September, has also proved popular with an occupancy rate of 97% in its first month.
