Dorchester Collection to manage hotel in Dubai

The nine-strong Dorchester Collection is to expand into the Middle East for the first time with the signing of a contract to manage a hotel in Dubai.

Details of the project are yet to be announced, but the agreement between the Dorchester Collection and the Dubai-based developer Omniyat will see the luxury hotel company managing the five-star hotel on the banks of the Dubai Canal in the Marasi community, as well as the exclusive One Palm development of 90 residential apartments on the Palm Jumeirah.

Christopher Cowdray, chief executive of Dorchester Collection, said: "We are delighted to partner with Omniyat with its global reputation for outstanding design. This is our first hotel and residence complex in the Middle East and we look forward to bringing our distinct style of hospitality to this region."

Mahdi Amjad, chief executive and executive chairman of Omniyat, described the development company as "a strong key player in bespoke luxury lifestyle and hospitality development" in the region.

"We aim for authenticity through our projects that add to Dubai's skyline and we only partner with the world's most established brands that share our passion and excitement for creating unique, ultra-luxury developments. We want to fuel unforgettable experiences through our projects and we couldn't have found a more suitable partner than Dorchester Collection."

The Dubai hotel will become the 10th hotel for the Dorchester Collection to join the group's three UK properties (the Dorchester, 45 Park Lane and Coworth Park), alongside Le Meurice and Hôtel Plaza Athénée in Paris, Hotel Principe di Savoia in Milan, Hotel Eden in Rome and the Beverly Hills Hotel and Hotel Bel-Air in Los Angeles.

The name and design of the Dubai hotel will be announced at "an exclusive gala event" in March.
