De Vere Wotton House unveils final £6m transformation

De Vere Wotton House in Dorking, Surrey, has unveiled the final touches of its transformation from a conference venue back to a country house hotel following a £6m refurbishment.

The renovation of the 17th century property has added an extra 16 suites to the mansion house, bringing the total number of rooms to 127. All areas of the hotel have been refurbished including public spaces, restaurant and bar, meeting spaces and the Old Library, which have been given a ‘classic heritage' feel with vintage items such as globes, bound books and antique keys.

Nestled in 13 acres of Grade II-listed grounds, it boasts the first Italian garden designed by botanist John Evelyn who lived at Wotton House.

The hotel was part of the 23-strong Principal Hayley portfolio acquired by Starwood Capital in 2013 for an undisclosed sum and was repositioned as a De Vere hotel.

The completion of Wotton House's refurbishment marks an important milestone in De Vere's wider multi-million pound country estate hotel renovation project, which will place the Mansion House at the centre of group's country property portfolio. At several properties, the gardens will also receive investment with the addition of outdoor dining patios and sculptures.

Caroline Morrone, general manager at De Vere Wotton House, said: "As a popular venue for the conference, business, leisure and wedding sectors, the final product will appeal to all our customers and provide an attractive, contemporary venue in stunning surroundings which pays homage to its history. We are delighted with the design which is also reflected in the fantastic feedback given by our guests. The new suites provide a luxurious setting for guests of wedding parties or those looking indulge away from the hustle and bustle of life."
