Daniel Jordaan is head butler at the Lanesborough

The Lanesborough hotel has promoted Daniel Jordaan to head butler, following six years at the hotel as assistant head butler.

South African-born Jordaan trained at Hospitality Industry Training South Africa (HIT) before arriving in London in 2004 and started working at the Lanesborough after only two weeks in the country.

He continued to work there throughout both his bachelors degree at Leeds Metropolitan University and masters degree at Oxford Brookes, commuting from London for the duration.

He will be managing a 22-strong team at the hotel.
