County Durham couple buy turreted Highland hotel

Ian and Suzanne Currie from County Durham are the new owners of the turreted Best Western Glenspean Lodge hotel on the outskirts of Roy Bridge in the Scottish Highlands.

Built in the 1880s as Victorian hunting lodge and extensively refurbished in 1993, the Inverness-shire hotel sits in a five-acre site that overlooks Monessie Gorge and is just 14 miles from Fort William and nine miles from the Nevis Range Ski area.

The hotel provides 17 bedrooms, a 100-seat lounge bar, an 85-seat restaurant and function suite, a snooker/games room and leisure facilities in the form of a gym, sauna and Jacuzzi.

There is separate, three-bedroom accommodation for the owners.

The Edinburgh office of Christie + Co sold the freehold off a guide price of £950,000 on behalf of Alex Fitzpatrick
