Considerate Hoteliers goes international as Raffles Hotels becomes new member
The Considerate Hoteliers (CH) is to expand overseas following the announcement that Raffles Hotels & Resorts is to join the UK-based association.
Representing 240 hotels in the UK, the association will see the addition of 10 properties in Asia with the arrival of Raffles.
John Firrell, executive director and founder member of the 22-year-old CH, regards the international expansion as a natural step towards making the world of hotels more considerate. "Much of what can be achieved by hotels who wish to be both considerate and sustainable does not rely on international borders," he said.
Diana Banks, vice-president, brand strategy for Raffles Hotels & Resorts said: "Raffles Hotels & Resorts has joined the Considerate Hoteliers group as we believe that our luxury hotels can both contribute to, and benefit from the depth of experience Considerate Hoteliers has in this field.
"We will continue to build on the work we have done in every destination that we are in, whether it is Singapore, Cambodia or Paris, in behaving responsibly towards the community and operating with a social conscience."
CH's main focus is to encourage and assist hoteliers to adopt economically, socially and environmentally sustainable policies and ethical practices, with the aim of enhancing the viability of the hotels' businesses, the environment and the quality of the experience for their guests, staff and visitors.
