According to North-east chartered surveyor George F White, which is marketing the property, Clennell Hall would make a good, small hospitality business either as a 16-bedroom hotel with public rooms or divided into self-contained apartments. The period building comprises a three-storey medieval tower house and a 17th-century house, with 18th- and 19th-century additions. The walls of the medieval tower are more than 1.5m thick at the base.
