Chewton Glen charity cycling team exceeds target
A cycling team from Chewton Glen has taken part in Le Tour de Cuisine Cotswold Cycle Challenge, cycling 100 miles and raising £6,000 for charity Hospitality Action.
The challenge, sponsored by Zenith Hygiene Group, took place yesterday. It started at the Beaufort Polo Club in Tetbury, passed through the Cotswold countryside, and finished with a barbecue prepared by chefs from Lucknam Park hotel. In total the event raised £37,000 for Hospitality Action.
Participants included cyclists from Calcot Manor, Unilever Food Solutions, Como hotels, Exclusive hotels and the Capital.
Chewton Glen's team included Mark Bevan, general manager; Edward Fitzpatrick, operations manager; Kerry Hudson, spa director; Andrew Stembridge, managing director; and a guest cycling appearance by André Garrett, executive head chef of sister property Cliveden House. Not only did they exceed their £5,000 target, but Chewton Glen's donation is so far the largest to be received from the event.
Stembridge said: "Although there were four routes to select, our team opted for the more challenging 100-mile option. Although we are all aching a little today we wanted to give the maximum we had to raise a significant amount of money for Hospitality Action."
