Chapter Hotels launches first property in Cheltenham

Chapter Hotels has launched the first of a new brand of contemporary, lifestyle properties in Cheltenham.

The 61-bedroom Montpellier Chapter](http://www.chapterhotels.com/The-Montpellier-Chapter) has opened in a Grade-II listed building, previously occupied by the Hotel Kandinsky.

Swire Hotels, which operates hotels in Beijing and Hong Kong, intends to create Chapter Hotels in the heart of leading towns and cities throughout the UK. A second hotel will open in Exeter in 2012, with a third planned for Bristol.

General manager of the Montpellier Chapter is James Partridge, previously general manager of Gordon Ramsay Holdings' York & Albany Hotel in London. Head chef Tom Rains, who has joined from the Old Bell Hotel, Malmesbury, Wiltshire, is working under the guidance of consultant chef Simon Hopkinson.
