Center Parcs plans Bedfordshire opening

Center Parcs has submitted planning permission for a fifth UK village resort at Warren Wood, near Woburn in Bedfordshire.

After six months of public consultation, the company announced that it had entered into a lease arrangement subject to planning permission with the Bedford Estate.

Company chief executive Martin Dalby described it as a milestone and said the site "would significantly boost employment and bring major benefits to the local economy".

The 365-acre Warren Wood site will cost in the region of £160m to build and, like other villages, will provide accommodation, sport and swimming facilities, a variety of restaurants and an Aqua Sana spa.

Center Parcs already operates four short-break holiday villages in Nottinghamshire, Wiltshire, Suffolk and Cumbria. It hopes to have its new site up and running by Summer 2008.

Center Parcs is due to release its full-year results for the year 13 July 2005.
