Caterer to unveil new hotel grading system

A new grading system for all hotels across England, Scotland and Wales is to be revealed exclusively in Caterer next week.

The long-awaited common standards will be a joint initiative between the AA, RAC, Visit Britain, Visit Scotland and the Wales Tourist Board.

It is expected that a single method of assessing and rating serviced accommodation will be introduced for use across Britain, replacing the schemes previously operated by each individual body.

The new standards aim to simplify the existing ratings, create less consumer confusion and allow tourism and travel bodies to promote British hotels more effectively both at home and abroad.

For more information on the new standards see Caterer next week.
