Burnside pub and restaurant group calls in the administrators

Scottish pub and restaurant firms Burnside (UK) and Burnside Inns have entered administration.

Burnside (UK) owns and operates the Plough Hotel in Stenhousemuir and the Graeme, a hotel, bar and restaurant in Falkirk.

Burnside Inns Ltd owns and operates the Red Lion, a hotel and Chinese restaurant in Larbert, Stirlingshire.

Blair Nimmo, Gary Fraser and Neil Armour of KPMG](http://rd.kpmg.co.uk/) have been appointed joint administrators of both firms.

All three businesses are continuing to trade while the administrators attempt to find a buyer, although five of staff have been made redundant out of a total of 52.

Blair Nimmo, joint administrator and head of restructuring for KPMG in Scotland: "All three businesses have a strong reputation in the local market. Despite this, Burnside (UK) and Burnside Inns have suffered, like many companies in the leisure and tourism sector, from the wider challenging economic conditions. However we are optimistic that a buyer can be found for these businesses."

Convivial Management Services has been appointed as managing agents to run the businesses. The general manager, Jonathan Davies: "It is very much business as usual and we are aiming to exceed the expectations of new and existing customers visiting The Plough, The Graeme and The Red Lion."
