Bristol Premier Inn partly demolished following massive fire

The Premier Inn Bristol Cribbs Causeway has been partly demolished following a massive fire that caused significant damage to the property.

Part of the building has been taken down to make the adjoining road safe. It is expected that the rest of the building will also be knocked down.

All guests staying at the hotel and staff were safely evacuated from the building following the blaze. Avon Fire & Rescue said the cause was unknown and an investigation will take place once it is safe to do so.

The fire service added that the cladding on the building "in no way impacted on the spread of fire or crew's response to the incident".

Fire crews from across the south-west were called at 1.27pm on Wednesday 17 July. On arrival, they found a fire on the third floor of the property.

Due to the extensive spread of fire, firefighters were withdrawn for their own safety and continued to fight the fire from outside of the property. At its height, there were around 70 firefighters on the scene. The fire was extinguished at 8.40am on Friday 19 July.
