Bloomsbury hotel seeks new owner

A 35-bedroom hotel in a plum location in London's Bloomsbury area has been put on the market for the first time in 30 years.

The Ruskin hotel is located in Montagu Street, between Bedford Square and Russell Square, and is next to the British Museum, London University and the capital's theatreland.

The Georgian property retains many period features such as painted elevations and Juliette balconies but would benefit from some modernising.

It incorporates a residents' lounge and reception room, along with a breakfast room in the basement.

Tourist account for the bulk of business, but the hotel also attracts regular corporate visitors from overseas as well as from the UK

The London office of Christie + Co is seeking offers of £600,000 for the 20-year leasehold from the Bedford Estate, which commenced in 1998.
