Best Western awards quality and longevity in annual awards 2012

The 34-bedroom Best Western Eglinton Arms, near Glasgow, has scored a double by being named the Best Small Hotel in the annual Best Western Hotel of the Year Awards for the second year running.

Carolyn Stark, general manager of the Best Western Eglinton Hotel is seen here receiving her award from (left to right): Rhys Roberts, chairman of Interchange & Consort Hotels (ICH); Richard Lewis, chief executive of ICH; and Keith Pope, managing director of Best Western.

As well as celebrating six annual hotel award winners, the Best Western Beacon Trust gala dinner, which followed Best Western's 2012 conference at the Lancaster London hotel, also highlighted the 167 hotels - out of a total membership of 300 hotels in Great Britain - which have been loyal to the brand for more than 10 years. These hotels received the first Best Western Brand Loyalty Awards.

Keith Pope, managing director of Best Western GB, said the Brand Loyalty Awards and Hotel of the Year Awards recognised the loyalty and excellence which meant so much to the success of any company, especially during volatile and competitive economic times.

"We are humbled by the level of loyalty shown to the Best Western brand," said Pope. "The continuing excellence shown by Best Western member hotels is an inspiration to a hotel industry that this year, in particular, must act as a showroom for what the UK has to offer both local and international visitors. It shows that at Best Western, we really have a winning mentality."

The longest-serving members of Best Western GB - each of which has chalked up more than 35 years - are the Best Western Swan Hotel in Somerset, Best Western Lansdowne Hotel in Eastbourne, Best Western Royal Chase Hotel in Dorset, Best Western Premier Moor Hall Hotel & Spa in Sutton Coldfield, Best Western Premier Blunsdon House Hotel in Swindon and the Best Western Red Lion Hotel in Salisbury.
