BAHA announces award winners for 2010

Claire Gilbertson of the Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park, London, has been named the first recipient of the British Association of Hospitality Accountants' Hospitality Revenue Director of the Year award.

The award was one of two new categories to be introduced at the BAHA's Finance, Revenue Management and IT Awards of the Year 2010, held at the Grand Connaught Rooms in London's Covent Garden.

The second new award - the BAHA Hospitality IT Professional of the Year 2010 - was won by Stewart Fidom of the Dorchester Collection.

It was revealed at the ceremony that the membership of the BAHA, which represents hospitality professionals involved in financial management, revenue management and IT, has reached an all time-high of nearly 1,000.

The full list of award winners, including five recipients of major awards and seven of student examination prizes are as follows:

â- BAHA Hospitality IT Professional of the Year 2010, sponsored by SpiriTel: Stewart Fidom, corporate IT project manager, Dorchester Collection
â- BAHA Hospitality Accountant of the Year 2010: Margaret Martin-Cruz, director of finance, Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park, London
â- BAHA Corporate Employer of the Year 2010: Radisson Blu Hotels and Resorts
â- BAHA Independent Employer of the Year: Portland
â- BAHA Overall Student of the Year 2010′ : Adrian Orton, accounts assistant at Hellidon Lakes Golf & Spa Hotel (part of Q Hotels), Daventry, Northamptonshire.
â- Cash prizes and certificates were also given to the top students, based on their results in each of the BAHA examination categories, taken in both February 2010 and July 2010.

The February 2010 BAHA examination prize winners were:
â- Stage 1 - Introductory Financial Accounting: Adrian Orton
â- Stage 2 - Operational Management Accounting: Gillian Marriott, accounts manager, Cairndale Hotel & Leisure Club, Dumfries
â- Stage 3 - Strategic Management Accounting: Fabien Ecard, financial controller, London-based Castlechain Ltd (including Bleeding Heart restaurants)

The July 2010 BAHA examination prize winners were:
â- Stage 1 - Introductory Financial Accounting: Nigel Dobson, revenue controller, Foxhills resort hotel, health spa, golf destination and members club, Ottershaw, Surrey
â- Stage 2 - Operational Management Accounting: Fiona Wilson, accounts supervisor, Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group
â- Stage 3 - Strategic Management Accounting: Upendo Jordan, revenue auditor, Selsdon Park and Golf Club (part of Principal Hayley Group), Croydon, Surrey
