Ayrshire couple buy ‘Monarch of the Glen' hotel

David and Jannet Huisman from Ayshire have bought the Laggan Country hotel in an area of the Highlands popularised by the Monarch of the Glen TV series.

The former shooting lodge occupies a three-and-a-half acre site in an elevated position in Laggan village in Inverness-shire within the Cairngorms National Park.

It incorporates 28 bedrooms, an 80-seat restaurant, a lounge bar, and a sun lounge, along with two chalets used by the owners and a separate coach house.

The business is targeted at the expanding coach market and has also benefited from the opening of a nearby bike trail and a boost in tourist numbers to the area following the TV series.

The Edinburgh office of Christie + Co sold the property on behalf of Robert and Sue Corden off an asking price of £675,000.
