Arch Bar to sell port for £100 a glass
Visitors to the Arch Bar at the InterContinental London Park Lane can soon enjoy a taste of one of the world's most expensive bottles of port- for £100 a glass.
Worth over £2,500, the rare Taylor's Scion 1855 vintage port has been in the ?-bedroom hotel's cellar since the property opened in 1975. It is being opened on 29 June to mark the opening of InterContinental Porto-Palacio das Cardosas in Porto and will only be available until the last glass has gone.
Alvaro Rey, general manager, InterContinental London Park Lane said: "We wanted to bring a flavour of Portugal to our guests to mark the opening of the first InterContinental hotel in Portugal. We've been keeping this bottle in the cellar for a special occasion and this seems like the perfect opportunity to open it."
Situated in Porto's main square, the 105-bedroom InterContinental Porto-Palacio das Cardosas is the first international luxury hotel within the boundaries of the city's UNESCO world heritage site. It is located within a renovated 250-year old palace.
The new opening marks the 171st InterContinental hotels. There are a further 60 currently under development.
