Apprentices triumph for Scotland and the North

Two young industry professionals from Scotland and two working in the North of England have triumphed in the Hospitality Modern Apprentice of the Year competition.

The event, now in its sixth year, has winners in the chef, pub, reception and restaurant sectors. The Scottish flag bearers were Jacqui Doig, from Gray's Inn in Aberdeen, who walked away with the pub apprentice title, and Graham Kelly, from the Marina restaurant in the De Vere Cameron House hotel at Loch Lomond, who was the champion of the restaurant section.

Catherine Broadhurst, from the De Vere Daresbury Park hotel in Cheshire, topped the poll in the chef section, with Louise Matson, from the Norbreck hotel in Scarborough, North Yorkshire, winning the reception category.

In total there were 16 competitors in the final, which was staged over two days last month at the Copthorne Hotel London Gatwick.
