Apex Hotels announces £12m refurbishment programme

Apex Hotels has revealed it is investing £12m in refurbishment works across its 10-strong hotels portfolio.

Apex's planned programme of refurbishment will mean improvements to three of its Edinburgh hotels - Grassmarket, Haymarket and Waterloo Place - as well as Apex City Quay Hotel & Spa in Dundee.

The Apex City of London hotel will also benefit from further investment, this time on its existing bedrooms, while Apex Temple Court hotel - also in London - will continue its £6m refurbishment, which includes a 20-bedroom extension.

Work is already under way at Apex Grassmarket hotel, with conference and events facilities being upgraded, while Apex City Quay Hotel & Spa in Dundee is undergoing a full bedroom refurbishment. The public areas, along with gym and spa, at the Dundee hotel will also be refurbished.

Angela Vickers, chief executive of Apex Hotels said: "We demonstrated our commitment to providing the best possible facilities for our guests by investing £48.5m in the brand new Apex City of Bath hotel. Carrying out an additional £12m of refurbishment work on our existing properties over the next year goes even further in terms of improving facilities for our guests."

Last month, Apex reported a 6% rise in turnover - up to £65m from £61.3m the previous year.
