Andrew Mackay becomes the Samling's general manager

The Samling hotel, the 11-bedroom Von Essen property in Windermere, Cumbria, has appointed Andrew Mackay as general manager.

Mackay joins the hotel, which has recently been awarded a Michelin star, with more than 15 years experience in the hotel industry.

Until recently he was general manger at Linthwaite House hotel in Windermere, Cumbria, and previously he was general manager at the Greenway hotel, Cheltenham, for Von Essen and hotel manager at the Old England hotel, Windermere, Cumbria, for Macdonald Hotels.

"We are delighted to welcome Andrew MacKay to the Samling hotel as general manager," said Nick Romano, chief executive of Von Essen. "Andrew has a wealth of experience in the hospitality industry working in top hotels across the country and had an extremely successful tenure managing our Greenway property."
