Allesley Hotel in Coventry is sold to Talash

The 90-bedroom Allesley Hotel, Coventry, has been sold to Talash Hotels by Princeton Hotels and Investments for an undisclosed sum.

Set within a five-acre site, the hotel has a 90-cover restaurant and an 80-cover lounge bar and will now undergo a major refurbishment. It is situated two miles from Coventry city centre and is close to Birmingham Airport and the NEC.

The hotel dates back to the 17th century, with an extension built in the 1970s, which houses most of the property's 15 meeting and function rooms.

"The Allesley was the city's premier event hotel in its heyday and offers an excellent opportunity to target Coventry's lucrative weddings and functions market," said Jonathan Parrish, director at Christie + Co, which marketed the sale.

Talash Hotels also operates the 63-bedroom West Western Falstaff Hotel in Leamington Spa.
