Acorn winners 2011 – Lauren Long

Age 24
Position General manager, Whitbread Hotels and Restaurants
Nominator Dean Madge
Proudest career moment Receiving a CEO No limits award for leadership in action, and an Acorn award. I never expected to receive either award for doing things I considered to be my day job.
Greatest inspiration My greatest inspiration comes from my previous general manager and mentor Nuno Sacramento, who inspired and challenged me daily to constantly stretch myself to reach my potential.
Ambition I would like to become a chief executive of a large hospitality company or own a successful hotel company one day. I believe the sky is the limit.

Lauren Long started working for Premier Inn after college, starting as reception team leader at Premier Inn London Euston in 2007.

After that, her relentless drive saw her land the role of operations manager at Premier Inn's flagship London property, County Hall. By last year she was general manager at Premier Silverstone, where her handling of an arson attack won her and her team a CEO No Limits award for leadership in action.

She is currently general manager for Premier Inn Luton South and sales ambassador for the region.
