Accor's UK and Ireland boss expands role

Accor Hotels has announced the expansion of its UK and Ireland managing director's role.

Jean-Jacques Dessors, currently responsible for the Ibis, Etap and Formule 1 budget brands, will now also be in charge of the company's Novotel and Mercure hotels in the region.

Dessors will oversee all the operational, sales, distribution and marketing aspects at the 93 UK and Ireland properties.

After the recent success of the business-orientated Novotel brand, which was named AA Hotel Group of the Year 2005, Dessors said he was looking forward to the introduction of a new Ibis bedroom design and further development of Etap.

Dessors said: "It's an exciting time to be taking on this role."

Charlie Langlais, who was UK director for Mercure and Novotel, has become director of the two brands in Germany.
