VisitEngland releases guide to responding to extreme weather

VisitEngland has released a guide to responding to extreme weather, having found that 10% of consumers have been put off taking a trip to affected areas.

Research conducted by the national tourism board found that 26% of hospitality businesses surveyed had experienced cancellations, while 41% has received fewer bookings than normal.

To help affected businesses get back on their feet VisitEngland worked in partnership with the Tourism Alliance to create a practical online guide ‘Responding to Extreme Weather'.

The free guide covers immediate and long term approaches to communicating with customers and reducing the impact of extreme weather. It includes advice on assessing the situation, communicating with customers, reviewing marketing activity, government support and legal considerations.
