Stadium Events and Hospitality Award 2014 winners announced

The winners of the 10th annual Stadium Events and Hospitality Awards 2014 have been announced, including foodservice companies Sodexo Prestige, Levy Restaurants and Jamie Oliver's Fabulous Fan Fayre.

The Newcastle Falcons Rugby Club, whose catering and events is done in-house, took home the top prize for Overall Matchday Hospitality Experience 2014 and also won the Matchday Hospitality Award for a Small Stadium.

Organised by Stadium Experience, the competition seeks to recognise the best catering, conference and events teams at stadia across the UK, with nine gongs available to win.

Sodexo Prestige picked up a considerable number of accolades, including the Conference & Events Sales & Marketing Award (Prestige Scotland, for Hampden Park Stadium), the Star of the Future Award (Newcastle United Football Club), and the Matchday Hospitality Award for a Large Stadium (also Newcastle).

Sodexo's operation at the Brighton and Hove Football Club also scooped the Directors' Choice Award and the Matchday Hospitality Award for a Medium Stadium.

The Media Choice Award went to Fabulous Fan Fayre, the catering company formed by Jamie Oliver and US company Legends in 2013 (Manchester City Football Club), while Levy Restaurants (part of Compass UK) picked up the Operations Team of the Year Award.

The prize-giving ceremony was held at the KC Stadium, home of the Hull City Tigers.

Nominations for the awards came from the clubs themselves, colleagues, the media or other club directors, with the judging done by a special committee, a panel of award sponsors, in some cases a mystery shopper, media visitors, directors and chefs.

Collette Salmon, Stadium Experience chair person, said: "These awards recognise those dedicated teams who work tirelessly off the pitch at football and rugby stadia across the UK to make hospitality, conferences and events run seamlessly for their customers."

Jane Shepstone, conference and events director at Kingston Park, home of the Newcastle Falcons Rugby Club, said: "[This is] a testament to the off-field team, who strive to give our customers a fantastic experience every time they visit."
