Sodexo donates one million meals to rebuilding of Notre-Dame

Sodexo has pledged to donate one million meals to the teams who will rebuild Notre-Dame.

On Monday a fire destroyed most of the 850-year-old Paris cathedral's roof and caused the collapse of its spire.

Sodexo's CEO Denis Machuel said: "With our employees, we are dedicated to serving the women and men who will devote themselves to rebuilding Notre-Dame. Contributing each day to their invaluable efforts is our way to join the impressive collective momentum that brings us together."

French President Emmanuel Macron has called for the restoration of the building to be completed within five years and invited architects to submit designs for a new spire.

More than €800m (£692m) has already been pledged to fund the work.
