Sodexho Alliance reports strong growth

Sodexho Alliance capped a strong 2006/7 with growth in all its territories and a recovery in the UK and Ireland at its healthcare, elderly care and defence divisions, the contract caterer announced today.

In the UK and Ireland, healthcare and seniors led the way with organic turnover up 7.9% to €240m (£166m) in the year to 31 August.

Business and industry organic turnover in the region increased 6.8% to €1.08b (£749m).

Although organic turnover in the UK and Ireland for the full year increased 6.1% to €1.48b (£1.03b) overall, education slipped 1.2% to €150m (£104m).

Contract wins in the UK and Ireland during the 12 months included eBay and Paypal Europe Services in Dublin, Thales Sapphire in Crawley, West Sussex, and a borough-wide school meals contract in London's Richmond.

Full-year organic growth at Sodexho Alliance was 8.1% at its food and facilities management division for the full year ay €12.9b (£8.9b).
