Scottish hotel and leisure set to receive £100m bank boost
Scottish hotel and leisure entrepreneurs have received a £100m boost from Santander Corporate & Commercial in a bid to capitalise on the XXth Commonwealth Games.
The boost comes as the country prepares to host the Games, and golf tournament the Ryder Cup. Hotel and leisure businesses have already received funds of over £30m, the bank has said, with the figures expected to climb by £70m by the end of the year.
Funding has already helped open a new business centre in Inverness, with plans to open more in Aberdeen, Edinburgh and Dundee.
Kevin Boyd, divisional managing director - Scotland, Northern Ireland & North East England at Santander Corporate & Commercial, said: "The XXth Commonwealth Games and other great events this year are having a strong impact on the Scottish hotels and leisure sectors, which look set to continue to be a positive contributor to Scotland's economy."
