Roadside group Moto names new chairman

Roadside group Moto has appointed Gerry Robinson as its new chairman.

Robinson, the former chief executive of Granada, will take over when Moto's £600m sale by Compass Group to Australian bank MacQuarie is completed in the summer.

In a joint statement from Moto and Macquarie, Moto chief executive Tim Moss said: "Gerry brings enormous experience of the UK motorway service area industry in addition to a wide range of other businesses. His experience will help Moto to make the transition to a stand-alone business."

A Moto spokesman refused to confirm whether Robinson's appointment was included as part of Macquarie's bid for the motorway service area business.
