Pickled Walnut and Adlib to help manage the British Darts Organisation competition

Foodservice firm Pickled Walnut Events and lighting and sound specialist Adlib are to help manage the British Darts Organisation's first World Trophy competition in February 2014.

This will be the first joint contract for the Liverpool-based firms since they announced their plans to work in partnership in October, in a bid to provide a complete catering, sound, lighting and audio-visual service.

The contract will involve managing more than 1,000 competitors and more than 14,000 spectators. The event itself is being organised by BDO Events, the commercial arm of the British Darts Organisation, and will take place at the Blackpool Tower.

Pickled Walnut events director Mike Hughes said: "We are delighted to be working with BDO Events on the World Trophy. It's a fantastic start to the partnership. Darts is continuing to grow in popularity and the World Trophy will be a chance for fans to witness a live event in the stunning Blackpool Tower environment."

The event will be the first in a year-long programme, culminating in the Super Series in July.

Well-known darts names such as Scott Waites, Stephen Bunting, Jan Dekker and Richie George are said to be among the competitors hoping to battle it out for the top prize of £115,000.
