One-third of Brits plan visit to the seaside this weekend

Brighton is the favourite UK seaside destination for Britons this Bank Holiday weekend, according to a survey from Mint credit card.

Despite forecasts of bad weather, 34% of Brits surveyed said they planned to visit a coastal town over the weekend of 27-30 August.

Brighton was voted the favourite UK resort, chosen by 21% of respondents for its seafront attractions, range of activities and good nightlife.

It was followed by Blackpool and then Whitby, for its fish-and-chips.

Alton Towers was voted best theme park to visit over the Bank Holiday, while the Lake District was the favoured national park, followed by the Peak District.

London, Edinburgh and York were the top three places to go for a city break over the weekend.
