One Group to run F&B at Hippodrome Casino
US restaurant chain The One Group is to enter the UK market next year to look after the food and beverage operation at the revamped Hippodrome Casino in London's Leicester Square.
The Hippodrome relaunches in 2011 as a 24-hour operation featuring a casino, terrace, restaurant, multiple bars and a cabaret, following a multimillion-pound redevelopment project that began in 2006.
Jonathan Segal, chief executive of The One Group, said: "As a British expat in the USA I am delighted to be the food and beverage operating partner in a building with such heritage and such memories for so many people.
"We see London as the stepping stone to Europe and this is just the first of many One Group operations that we plan to open in Europe."
The One Group was formed six years ago in New York with its first restaurant, called One, in the city's meatpacking district. By the end of the year the company will operate 24 venues, including the STK steakhouse brand.
