Nomination deadline fast approaching for Scottish Thistle Awards

The deadline is fast approaching for nominations for the next Scottish Thistle Awards, which seek to recognise excellence within Scottish tourism.

The Scottish public is being asked to name their best tourism businesses or suppliers before nominations close on 18 May. Now in their 22nd year, the annual awards have 13 categories, including Friendliest Pub, Most Hospitable Hotel and Best Visitor Attraction.

Guests and visitors, as well as those in the industry, are all able to nominate their favourites, via the online form [www.scottishthistleawards.co.uk].

Regional ceremonies will take place in November, with the winner in each category going forward to represent their region at the gala ceremony, held at the end of Scottish Tourism Week 2015.

The awards are linked with the Scottish Tourism Strategy 2020, and held in association with VisitScotland, the Hospitality Industry Trust Scotland, the Scottish Tourism Alliance, the Highlands & Islands Tourism Awards and the Scottish Licensed Trade Association.

Mike Cantlay, chairman of VisitScotland, said: "These awards are a real chance for us to recognise and reward the hard work, dedication and innovation that is taking place within the Scottish tourism sector. I'm particularly pleased to see that visitors will have a voice in this year's nomination process. Their happiness is the benchmark of success."
