Llandrillo College student wins Institute for Travel & Tourism award

A student at Llandrillo College in north Wales has won the Institute for Travel & Tourism's Hospitality Student of the Year Award, and the prize of a days work experience at Michelin-starred Burlington restaurant at Devonshire Arms Hotel in Yorkshire.

Jonathan Davies, who gained a degree in IT before enrolling on professional cooking courses, collected his award at a ceremony in the House of Commons. As well as a days experience in head chef Steve Smith's team at the Burlington, Davies wins £500 worth of kitchen equipment.

Smith said "We are all looking forward to working with Jonathan. He is an outstanding student and has already worked in some well-known kitchens. I'm sure he will be a very useful addition to our team."

The award, which is presented each year by industry body the Institute for Travel & Tourism, rewards outstanding technical achievement in the hospitality sector.
