James Martin's in-flight meals for Thomas Cook Airlines will launch on 1 May

Celebrity chef James Martin is to launch his new range of in-flight meals for Thomas Cook Airlines on 1 May.

The BBC1 Saturday Kitchen host has developed a menu for the airline featuring traditional dishes such as bacon and eggs for breakfast, slow-braised British beef with baby onions and herb dumplings for dinner and bourbon vanilla and ginger cheesecake for dessert. There will also be special menus for vegetarians, children and special dietary requirements.

Martin is not the first celebrity chef to tackle airline food: in fact he's the latest in a long line of chefs, following in the footsteps of Heston Blumenthal and Simon Hulstone, who took on British Airways' menus, Gordon Ramsay, who advised Singapore Airlines, and Joël Robuchon who worked on Air France's mile-high food offer.
