Ian Sarson to replace Compass boss Ian El-Mokadem

Compass boss Ian El-Mokadem is to leave the business with Ian Sarson announced as his replacement.

The changeover, effective from April, follows four years with El-Mokadem at the helm of Compass Group UK and Ireland. Sarson steps up from his current position as managing director for specialist markets, which includes healthcare and education.

The appointment of Sarson, whose background is exclusively from the food, support services and hospitality sectors, could mark a shift in business strategy for Compass. El-Mokadem had worked for British Gas operator Centrica prior to his role at Compass.

Sarson will report directly to group chief executive Richard Cousins and will also join the group executive committee.

Cousins said: "We would like to take this opportunity to thank Ian El-Mokadem for his hard work, passion and energy over the past four years and wish both Ians every success in their careers going forward".
