Harbour & Jones reveals winners of inaugural awards

Prince Philip House and London Stock Exchange (LSE) were the big winners at the inaugural Harbour & Jones awards, set up to celebrate the company's 10th year in business.

Prince Philip House picked up the Site Team of the Year award after beating its budget for 2013/2014 by 47%, while its general manager, Rupert Outram, took home the Leadership award for helping drive home the venues' outstanding performance over the past year.

Dang Pham, senior sous chef at the LSE was another double winner, after being named Young Chef of the Year and snatching the hotly contested Dish of the Year 2014 title, judged by industry experts including Michelin-starred chef Jeff Galvin of Galvin Restaurants.

More than 320 H&J staff attended the awards last Friday, held at The Brewhouse, London Fields Brewery.

Other winners came from the Royal Society, RSA House, Aviva Investors, Ashurst and Harbour & Jones Events.

Patrick Harbour, H&J owner and director, said: "We couldn't have been more delighted with the response to the awards, with over 150 nominations.

"Those who just missed out were vowing to be the winner of one our fabulous trophies next year. The whole evening embodied our close family spirit and Nathan and I could have chosen from a huge pool of people who were deserved of the Values Award, which was the only category we chose ourselves."

The compere for the evening was Michael Balogun, a former ex-offender who became involved with H&J through the Clink Charity.

When he was released from prison in 2012, H&J offered him a full-time job at one of its prestigious London sites and since then Balogun has gone on to apply for drama school, and is currently in the final round of auditions to become a student at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art.
