Gate Gourmet director jailed for stealing £30,000

Gate Gourmet's former finance director Ravinder Dhillon has been jailed for 12 months for stealing £30,000 from the company. Dhillon, 44, was sentenced by Isleworth Crown Court for illegally transferring the cash to Denmark between January and March last year.

It was also reported that Dhillon, who was on a £110,000 salary, charged the cost of prostitutes to the airline catering company. He was sacked in March 2005.

A company spokesman said: "Once we discovered the thefts for which Mr Dhillon has now been convicted, we took the appropriate action and dismissed him. We're pleased this episode has drawn to a close."

A confiscation hearing has been set for 24 March to decide what to do with Dhillon's assets.
