ESS wins £57m Ministry of Defence contract
Compass Group's ESS Support Services Worldwide business has won a three-year Ministry of Defence (MoD) deal worth £57m.
The soft facilities contract with the Defence Infrastructure Organisation (DIO) will see ESS deliver a range of soft services to the MoD, including retail services that are expected to generate "tens of millions of pounds in turnover", when it begins on 1 May.
ESS will deliver support services to more than 15,000 customers in the Royal Navy and the Royal Marines, the Army and the Royal Air Force, including catering, mess and hotel services, cleaning, waste management, stores and logistics, motor transport and personnel and administrative support.
Chris Garside, managing director of ESS, said: "ESS has built a successful relationship with the MoD elsewhere and it is a privilege and an honour to play our part in supporting the nation's forces. ESS works closely with our clients to deliver innovation, choice and value, providing a solution which supports the wellbeing of our customers."
The DIO said ESS was appointed following an "in-depth tendering process, which included a number of quality suppliers".
ESS already operates in a number of other MoD contracts, including the Royal Navy's Fleet Accommodation Centre in Plymouth.
