Entries wanted for new Best Breakfast Awards 2014
Chefs and caterers across Britain are being asked to enter their breakfast offerings into a nationwide competition to find the country's best breakfasts, as part of this year's Farmhouse Breakfast Week.
Run by HGCA, the cereals and oilseeds division of the Agriculture and Horticulture Development Board (AHDB), Farmhouse Breakfast week is in its 15th year, and seeks to raise awareness of the importance of eating breakfast, and recognise the country's best breakfast dishes. It is being supported this year by TV chef Dean Edwards.
Nominations for all categories are being taken now at www.shakeupyourwakeup.com, until 17 January 2014.
Members of the public will be able to vote from the list of nominations between 9 December and 19 January. Posters, web banners and logos will be available to buy from the Awards website to encourage customers to vote.
Karen Levy, HGCA campaign manager said: "People are increasingly eating breakfast out of the home and we believe the Best Breakfast Awards is an ideal vehicle for venues to promote their business in this growing market.
"This is the first Best Breakfast Awards we have organised, so whether you're part of a national chain or a small independent, we want you to take part and celebrate both the breakfast occasion and the choice of dishes available!"
The winner will be announced on 27 January next year, during Farmhouse Breakfast Week 2014, which runs from 26 January to 1 February.
