Elior lands £13.8m South Bank University catering deal

Elior scores top marks with a new £13.8m catering contract at London South Bank University.

The five-year deal will see the caterer tasked with transforming the university's foodservices with a focus on contemporary food and customer service.

Elior will operate nine outlets across the Southwark and Havering campuses, including Costa Coffee and Starbucks cafés, restaurants and a student union bar, delivering a range of new food and beverage concepts.

Designed to meet customer tastes and deliver a contemporary and relevant ‘high street' experience, the new food and drink offers will aim to encourage students to stay on-campus.

These include design-your-own-burger concept, Heavenly Burger; handmade pizzas from Pizza Foundry; deli prepared sandwiches and salads from GO!SASA; street food offer - ChU, based on Malaysian, Indian, Oriental and North African cuisine; and noodle and soup offer Umami.

The developments will also include a complete refit of the central refectory at the Southwark campus to create a destination food court and seating areas with Wi-Fi workstations.

Paul Fisher, director of education for Elior UK, commented: "We will use our expertise and extensive knowledge of this sector to ensure a smooth transition and deliver a high standard of product and service. Providing an outstanding customer experience is paramount to our success."
