EFMS wins £4m Southend-on-Sea civic catering contract
East Anglian caterer Eastern Facilities Management Solutions (EFMS) has won a £4m civic catering contract with Southend-on-Sea Borough Council.
The new deal puts EFMS in charge of both catering for the council's corporate functions and delivering restaurant and café services at the council's headquarters and Tickfield training centre for the next five years.
EFMS is rolling out numerous changes within the first eight weeks of its contract. The civic centre's restaurant, called Charter, will be commercialised to meet high street standards, installing new counter displays, electric point of sale systems, revamped food and introducing higher quality brands such as Illy coffee.
The catering company's new hospitality brand Caraway will be used for the council's corporate venues. Both parties hope to encourage the use of spaces such as Prittlewell Priory and Southend Pier.
