East Gate leisure development to open in Llanelli
Restaurant operators are being sought for a new multi-million pound leisure development set to open in South Wales in the next year.
The £20m East Gate scheme in Llanelli will be a large town centre development comprising 110,000 sq ft of retail and leisure space, located next to a new 550-seat regional theatre.
The outlet will include a six-screen multiplex cinema, a 53-bedroom Travelodge hotel and 10,000 sq ft of retail space. Five restaurant and bar units plus coffee bars will also be part of East Gate, which will open in September 2012.
Owner Henry Davidson Developments has instructed Davis Coffer Lyons (DCL) along with E J Hales to market the development's leisure quarter.
Tracey Mills, director of development leasing at DCL, said the new scheme will provide a welcome boost for the community, both socially and in terms of tourism.
"The leisure scheme will compliment Park Trostre, the exceptionally popular retail scheme in Llanelli which is under-catered in terms of food offerings with no night time driver," she said.
"There is a bias towards family-entertainment at the scheme with the cinema, theatre and restaurants creating a significant critical mass of leisure for Carmarthenshire."
