Cordia appoints David Melvin as new managing director
David Melvin has been appointed managing director of Cordia, following the retirement of current MD and industry veteran Fergus Chambers.
Melvin has been promoted from his previous role as operations director at the arm's length company set up by Glasgow City Council to run its frontline services.
Prior to that he held the position of deputy director of Cordia as well as regional manager at Lothian Regional Council where he was responsible for facilities management.
Melvin said he was delighted by his new appointment. "My appointment comes at a time of huge challenges to the organisation.
"I look forward to the support of my management team and every member of staff as I lead Cordia to meet these challenges."
Services provided by Cordia include home care support to Glasgow's vulnerable citizens, school meals for pupils in over 300 city schools, catering in Glasgow's museums and leisure centres, and catering for banqueting events and weddings on Council property.
