Compass Group makes hat trick of executive team appointments

Compass Group has announced a hat trick of new internal appointments to its executive team, including Fiona Ryland as HR director for the UK and Ireland business.

Ryland, who was HR director for the company's B&I division for four years, succeeds Andrew Richards who left to pursue opportunities outside of Compass.

Prior to joining the business in 2008, Ryland gained operational experience with retailers including Dixons, Asda, Safeway and most recently five years in HR operations at Comet.

Caron Naylor has been appointed director of business excellence. She joined Compass in 1982 on the graduate training programme.

Over the past 30 years, Naylor has held operational management and business director roles in the B&I sector and functional roles in training, commercial, quality services and sales.

Most recently, she was managing director for Instore, where she developed a brand for the retail market.

Naylor takes over from Jason Leek who is now leading a strategic project within the company. Instore is now led by Andy Barry, managing director of Eurest.

Carol Hudson, who has been with Compass for 15 years in both the USA and the UK, has been named retention director for the UK and Ireland.

She has more than 30 years of operational and sales experience across the foodservice industry and since returning to the UK from the USA last June, Hudson has been working to strengthen Compass' focus on its clients.

Ian Sarson, group managing director (pictured), commented: "Fiona, Caron and Carol each have extensive experience of our business and bring a wealth of knowledge from a range of backgrounds.

"It's been a real pleasure to work with them all over the years; they are a valuable addition to the Executive and will undoubtedly play a crucial role in further developing our business and maintaining our position as industry leaders."
