Compass Group bowls over Surrey County Cricket Club in new £50m deal
Compass Group and Surrey County Cricket Club have extended their joint catering venture for a further five years in a deal expected to be worth £50m.
The contract extension comes on the back of 10 years working together and the caterer and will now continue to operate at the Kia Oval cricket ground until 2021.
Richard Gould, chief executive at Surrey County Cricket Club, said: "Having invested £3.5m in the ground over the course of the last two years, we need to retain our place as one of the top stadia in world cricket and look forward to working with Compass to achieve this ambition."
Compass has delivered all food and hospitality services to the 250,000 cricket fans and event delegates that visit the Kia Oval each year since 2004.
During this time, the caterer used customer feedback and sales data to drive developments in food offers. Sales were supported by a central marketing team and event bookings for non-match days rose by more than 50%.
Colin Bailey, managing director for Levy Restaurants, Compass Group UK & Ireland's sports, leisure and hospitality business, added: "We've worked hard to forge an excellent relationship together over the past ten years and I'm very excited about what the future holds for the Kia Oval."
