Compass employees complete SCAE diploma modules
More than 30 Compass Group UK & Ireland employees have completed modules of the Speciality Coffee Association of Europe (SCAE) diploma in the last six months.
These newly trained baristas will now be showcasing their skills at Compass House, and client sites IBM, Liberty Global and Virgin Media.
The SCAE spans 90 countries and represents thousands of coffee enthusiasts and professionals from across Europe and Asia.
Since securing membership in July, Compass employees have enrolled on a number of SCAE's coffee diploma courses, which provide a structured approach to coffee education.
To date baristas have completed and passed the introduction into coffee, barista skills and brewing foundation level courses.
Louise Pilkington, marketing director from Compass Group UK & Ireland said: "I am delighted to see such a positive response to our membership with SCAE within the business. Delivering an excellent cup of coffee is a skill and we know how important it is to our customers that we get it right each time.
"The hot beverage sector is growing year on year and is one of the most important parts of our business, so investing in training and development of our baristas is one of our top priorities."
David Veal, executive director of SCAE, added: "We are delighted the Compass Group UK & Ireland employees have embraced our training. It demonstrates the quality of education the Coffee Diploma System can offer and is a huge endorsement for us as we strive to deliver excellence in coffee."
It is anticipated a further 50 Compass employees will complete their training in the next six months.
